Venue Change

July 11 date has been changed from Silver K Cafe in Johnson City to the Recreation Hall at Miller Creek RV Resort in Johnson City. This is still a public show, but now will be in conjunction with Al and Kay Pratt's 50th wedding anniversary party. BYOB!

Look for another date at Silver K in the fall.

Summer Tour

Out from under my rock.

Currently planning a summer semi-tour.

Probably a couple of weeks here and there. Small venues, big crowds.

Gonna drag Matt Martindale out with me for some shows.

I've got a few ideas regarding the locations of aforementioned here and there, but am always open to suggestions.

Anyone interested in a house concert? Love those.

I'll play "A-Frame" and "I Feel Like Drinking" if everyone promises to pretend to be interested in all my other crap.

3rd Annual Float Trip

This year's float trip is Aug 3-5th. If the river's closed we can still float the Comal and if that's closed then we'll figure something out - hotel pool, the horseshoe, or just hang out by the river. Bruce Robison and the Gougers are at Floore's Friday night and Hayes Carll and Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash are at River Road Saturday night. I'd recommend a different hotel on Friday night - one closer to Floore's, it's kind of a haul from New Braunfels to Helotes. Yeah Party!!

Weekend Tragedy

It is with great sorrow we inform you of our friend, brother, and son, Kevin Smithson II. He was taken in a tragic yet ironically humorous accident incolving a srting bikini, 9 volt battery, spicy cheese whiz, and a dead skunk in the middle of the road.

Kevin was a prolific songwriter on the verge of a major publishing contract. He was also known throughout the world by the name "rebelkegger88" where he contributed to message boards with compelling literary quality posts. He will be remembered by millions and millions as the one who opened their eyes to True Texas Music and The Lonestar Way of Life.

His life ended in the way he wanted to. Earlier in the day, he had stopped with his girlfriend, Ashley St. Standard, where they showered and shaved in a bathroom stall, at a Texaco, on the way to Gruene Hall. There was a sold out concert for one of his heroes that night. Unfortunately the never made it, but they'll be together floating the river that never runs to slow, in a place where the Lone Star's always cold, and the party's always awesome.

Buddy Holly, he was too.
But when there star comes tumblin to the ground.
Not a thing the king's horses, and all the king's men could do.
Me, I just got this ol' barstool.

Happy Birthday Mike! I hope your 30th tomorrow is your best yet. We really enjoyed the show at Love & War in Texas a few weeks back.

Float Trip
